Where does Sundara hair come from?
Our hair comes from devotees who donate their hair as a sacrifice. In India, it is very common for people to sacrifice their hair in return for prayers that have been answered by God. The temples in India will cut the hair from the willing devotees, and then auction the hair off to distributors. The proceeds from the auctions are be returned back into the community in various charitable forms.

The hair is then cut and carefully sewn to maintain the natural cuticle direction so matting and tangling are virtually eliminated.

What is the difference between Machine Weft and hand tied Weft?
Hand tied wefts are made by tying strands of hair around a strong weaving thread, this process is done by hand. Our hand tied wefts are much thinner than machine wefts because of the precision involved, and lay flat on the scalp. Machine wefts are made by sewing strands of hair together with a hair sewing machine.

What is the best way to cut a weft?
With hand tied wefts, the track should never be cut. If the track (weft) is cut, then you should seal it with a good glue like nail glue or fabric glue. There is no guarantee that it will not shed if it is cut. Also, one should never sew through top of the weft and it is recommended you sew around the weft. With machine wefts, you can cut where desired.

Is there a way to test the hair to see if it is actually real human hair or a synthetic fiber?
Yes. In the textile industry it is often required to know how to conduct a fiber burn test to identify the content. The same tests can be done on hair. 1. Remove single strands of hair from different areas of the questionable unit. 2. Hold a single strand with tweezers and use a lighter to keep a steady flame. Do not use matches as they will mask the odor. 3. Pay attention to the odor, ember and flame.
